A kiss on the way to the old town. A couple walking hand in hand. A bride ready for the most beautiful and important picture of her life.
I was inspired. No wonder, there was love in the air where ever I looked. This was Ronda, the city where romance is said to flourish.
So I stole a kiss.
And I stole the kiss from a bride.
But unfortunately my lips were not touched. Of course only her husband was allowed near them.
But I didn’t complain. On the contrary.
I was really lucky, for 30 minutes after taking a picture of the bride, I walked upon the newly married couple again. At this place (picture below), which is incredibly beautiful, but it has been photographed by millions of tourists. And of me 15 minutes earlier. Without people in the picture.
But I went back there a second time. Which turned out to be a smart move.
Puento Nuevo, “the new bridge”, was built over the gorge between two parts of Ronda. The work started in 1759 and it took 34 years to complete the masterpiece. Among other things, there is a room in the bridge that was used as a prison and torture chamber.
But I wanted something special. Something that made my picture of the bridge in Ronda different.
I had to be rude. I took a big chance. The temptation was just too big.
I moved my self shoulder by shoulder with one of wedding photographers. And took five-six quick pictures before pulling away. It didn’t want to get punched in the face.
I got the kiss. Even though I had to steal it.
One thing is for sure, beautiful Ronda became even more beautiful in that instant.
A visit to Andalucia can not be done without a trip to Ronda. I only had four hours to spare, but next time I’m in the area I’ll stay for a couple of days. At least!
This is a region which should be on you bucket list!
